The shoulders! This amazing joint has the highest range of motion of any joint in the body, but unfortunately to gain this flexibility, we’ve had to give up stability. Do you or someone you know who practices yoga have a shoulder injury or tweak? It’s a common issue for yogis, where we are asked to place our whole body weight onto this vulnerable joint in inversions, arm balances, and other common poses like downward dog and chatturanga.
Join Abby in this shoulder clinic to learn the important muscles of the shoulder girdle, how to engage, locate, & palpate these muscles. Through this immersion into the shoulders, you’ll walk away with greater knowledge of how to help yourself and others create strength and longevity in the shoulder joint.
Based on the Yoga Bodyworker Training from Forrest Yoga Guardians Jambo Truong and Brian Campbell, this is a taster for ALL practitioners of yoga and bodywork – yoga teachers, yoga students, and bodyworkers who love shoulders.
The morning session will start with a therapeutic 2-Hour Forrest Yoga practice focused on creating strength and intelligence in the muscles that support the shoulder girdle. The afternoon session will include lecture on anatomy, muscle testing, and learning to give & receive Myofascial Release bodywork techniques.
